Our Kingston Scouts BSA family has boys and girls from 5 years old to 17 years old in Troop 2 (Girls 10-17), Troop 1 (Boys 10-17), and Pack 66 (Girls & Boys 5-10).
Our Local Scouting Family
Troop 2 Kingston is the first and only Scouts BSA girls troop in southern Rhode Island. We serve young women living in South Kingstown, Richmond, North Kingstown, Hopkinton, Narragansett, Charlestown, Westerly, and Exeter, plus Jamestown, Newport, Middletown, and Portsmouth.
Kingston village has a Scouting trio that includes Cub Scout Pack 66 Kingston (girls and boys, 5 - 10 yrs old), Troop 1 Kingston (boys, 11 - 17 yrs old), and Troop 2 Kingston (girls, 11 - 17 yrs ). Families wishing to enjoy the benefit of many combined group activities and events may also wish to consider joining these other Scout groups. Save your valuable time by not having to constantly run around to different activities at different times, at different locations, and on different nights. We understand. We have kids, too.
The Kingston Scouting trio are independent Scouting groups of girls & boys. Like families, we all enjoy doing things together, but sometimes we enjoy doing things apart. Though Troop 2 will join the trio on activities when it maximizes our fun, the girls will have their own events, campouts, and activities. Troop 2 has its own Scout and adult leadership and acts independently.
Are you busy!? You can still be a Scout. Kids are very busy doing all sorts of things like sports, music, clubs, and homework! We understand that Scouts may miss meetings or campouts, or come late or leave early. Many Scouts will stay with the troop for seven (7) years, so we take the long-term view and understand a variety of activities make a well-rounded life. Few activities are as beneficial, accommodating or keep youth engaged for as long as Scouting.
Come join us! Scouting has a reputation for helping youth develop self-reliance, strong character, respect for others, good citizenship skills, and physical and mental fitness. For more than 100 years, our programs have instilled in young people the values and knowledge that they need to become leaders in their communities and in their countries.

We all are members and benefit from Narragansett Council's professional staff and countless volunteers. Narragansett Council is a member of the Boy Scouts of America.
Boy Scouts of America is our national organization. The Scouts BSA program is a year-round BSA program for boys and girls 11 to 17 years old that provides fun, adventure, learning, challenge, and responsibility to help them become the best version of themselves. BSA is one of the largest youth organizations in the US, with more than 3.4 million participants and more than 110 million since its founding in 1910. BSA is a member of the international Scout Movement and a founding member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1922.
World Organization of the Scout Movement is the largest international Scouting organization with about 50 million participants in 170 National Scouting Organizations. The WOSM's mission is "to contribute to the education of young people, through a value system based on the Scout Promise and Scout Law, to help build a better world where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in society"
Founders of Scout Movement and BSA: Lord Robert Baden-Powell (1857-1941) was a British general and founder of the world Scouting movement. Serving in Africa and India, he wrote two books Aids to Scouting and Scouting for Boys. Both of which became immensely popular. These books concentrated on the value of wilderness survival and building character. He took a group of youth to Brownsea Island, the first Scout campout, where they proved his idea was a huge success! Here in the United States, other influencers had similar youth programs and big ideas. Joining Baden-Powell's Scout Movement, they made it uniquely American. Daniel Carter Beard (Sons of Daniel Boone), Ernest Thompson Seton (Woodcraft Indians), William D. Boyce (founder of BSA), and James E. West (First BSA Chief Scout) all combined their talents making a uniquely American Scouting program rich in American pioneering and Native American spirit.
